Shannon Cloete led excellence in strategic design and development for the Astral lobby Refurbishment, part of the over 12 year old lobby project. Within this Luxury and elegant space, was to create a bespoke multi-cultural experience, with a fresh and unique approach to F&B hospitality, with a world class and Award winning (2019 Australian Design Winner Hospitality - Tea House.
From developing the design brief and lead the iconic design firm vision and aspiration with Luchetti Krelle. Having worked on many major hospitality projects together. We delivered a world class iconic lounge destination, as a stand alone F&B within Hotel Lobby and premium retail space.
About Project:
The Vision was to create an iconic lounge bar destination that compliments the surrounding opulent modernism of the Astral Lobby at The Star, Sydney, yet impactfully allures guests into a space of varied ambience and experience depending on the time of day. Transitioning from day through to night to set the scene for high tea, bespoke tea/coffee experiences and instinctively into cocktail hour.
This space had unique challenged with no natural daylight and unappealing location; within the exisiting refurbishment constraints; we adapted the design to work extremely well, by using this as an advantage.
Thus a unique destination emerged, with luxurious materials starring a handcrafted jewel-toned jade wall wrapping the space in rich movement and colour, offset by the warmth of brass detailing. Bespoke back-bar brass doors enveloped in halo lighting to display tea by day and reveal spirits at night. A captivating installation that brings a hyper-real landscape to life digitally giving a sense of wonder as leaves subtly sway, and fireflies dance after twilight.
